| It's "Bean" Fun (Ugh... I Apologize) |

Well, I've decided - Der Wundervolle Bean will soon be coming to an end. It can't be too much of a surprise, can it? I've mentioned ending the strip a few times and obviously I've been less than committed to it lately. It's not that I've run out of stories to tell or places to take the characters. No, I've got ideas for this strip out the wazoo. It's just that I'm not having as much fun with it as I was, I'm not enjoying it nearly as much as I should be to keep it going. So rather than force the strips out and run the series right smack into the ground I figure it's best to go out while I'm still somewhat happy with things.
But don't worry! I'm not gonna leave you hangin'. The fate of all will be revealed and the whole storyline will come to a nice, open-opened conclusion leaving me with plenty of room to come back and continue the strip sometime in the future. I love these characters, I love the stories I've been able to create and I love you guys for your enthusiatic support. It's just time for me to put away Bean, Kirby and the rest for just a little while so I can focus on other things that I've had to neglect, in part, due to my work on this strip.
Anyway, there's still several more strips to go and lots of ground to cover before the end. I'm thinking I may even try and take things all the way up to 150, just to end on a nice, important-sounding number. I hope you guys dig the end of Der Wundervolle Bean. Or should I say, the end... for now? |

The good news? The Bean is back!!
The bad news? With all the projects on my plate right now I'm going to have to cut down to about three strips a week.
But hey! Better than no Bean at all right? Uh... guys? Right? |

Well, there's one more guest strip on the way and then LOOK OUT! I'll be back with all new strips next week! Hopefully. I just want to say thanks to everyone who sent in a guest strip... you guys helped me out more than you know and you did some really great stuff. Your checks are in the mail. And when I say "check" I mean heartfelt appreciation.
I also popped in to post up this little pic:
It's a rough design for a character in a brand new comic strip I'm brainstorming. I really love this idea and I can't wait to get more characters designed and more ideas plotted out for it. It's going to be a lot different from the Bean, in both story and style. Here's my dilemma - if I do start a new strip, especially one that's going to be more involved and more detailed than the Bean, then there is no way I'm going to be able to do both at the same time and that means the Bean... will have to go away. But I wouldn't just stop doing it. I'd probably take it up to strip #200 before retiring it and moving on to this new thing.
Ooooor...
Option #2 - I could continue to do the Bean on a weekly basis and turn this new strip into a weekly feature on the Stumblebum Studios website. Hey, that's not such a bad idea. I could even do it in a more comic book format and once I get enough pages together I could print a book! Hmmm. I'm still mulling it over in my head. Stay tuned for more developments!! |

I'm bloody tired and I don't feel like I've accomplished anything today... even though I think I actually did. What? Anyway, there probably won't be any new Bean strips this week as I'm hard at work on a bunch of projects, including drawing a sixteen page comic for Free Comic Book Day, which you can read more about over here. But I'll hopefully be able to post up a couple of guest strips this week, so there's that. Just wanted to tell everyone what's going down, don't want my thousands of loyal fans to start a riot... or do I? |

Hey, look who did a guest strip for the awesome guys over at A Geek Like Me! That's right! Me, baby, me! I met Aaron (robbikenobi) and Mark at CageCon last year and I've been a fan of the strip since. I had a lot of fun doing this little guest strip and I love being able to use Kirby outside of the Beanverse. So I'm looking for some guest strips for Der Wundervolle Bean. See, I'm about to start drawing a 16 page comic for Stumblebum to give away on Free Comic Book Day, which is just a smidge over a month away, and I'd like to refrain from having any big gaps in Bean updates but I'm not sure I'll be able to do the strip and try to get this comic done at the same time. I'd love to get at least weeks worth of strips (about 4) or maybe even two weeks worth if possible. Not that I'm suggesting that I want one person to do two weeks worth of Bean strips. Sorta based on kind of a real conversation I had, though not with a talking bean. In case you're wondering, I agree with The Bean.
